Jasmine Paolini produced one of her best-ever performances as she finally toppled Iga Swiatek at the seventh time of asking.

Paolini has continued her fine Billie Jean King Cup form into the WTA Tour’s Asian leg, and she looked at the peak of her powers against the World No. 2.

The Italian dropped just three games against Swiatek, a player she had previously suffered six consecutive losses to.

Paolini’s performance was so impressive that she broke an immense Coco Gauff record at the Wuhan Open.

Jasmine Paolini hits just three unforced errors against Iga Swiatek

The Italian was imperious against Swiatek and she left very little room for error as she booked her place in the Wuhan Open semi-final.

Paolini hit just three unforced errors against Swiatek as she dominated the 2025 Wimbledon champion in China.

The Italian’s near-perfect display saw her commit the fewest amount of unforced errors in a match this year, taking the record from Gauff.

Bizarrely, Gauff’s record of eight unforced errors also came against Swiatek, as players clearly up their game against the outstanding Pole.

Gauff hit just eight unforced errors at the Madrid Open as she dispatched Swiatek on the clay with a mesmerising 6-1, 6-1 display earlier this year.

Jasmine Paolini joins elite list with Wuhan Open semi-final

Paolini has cemented herself as a top 10 player in 2025 and she’s shown her best tennis at WTA 1000 events.

The Italian has now reached four semi-finals at 1000 events, making her the third-oldest player to achieve the feat.

The World No. 8 is only behind Serena Williams and Li Na as she joins an exclusive list of brilliant top stars.

Paolini has reached the final of the Cincinnati Open and won the Italian Open on home soil at 1000 events in 2025.
