Jannik Sinner proved too strong for Alexander Zverev on Sunday evening.
The Italian superstar successfully defended his Wimbledon title, beating Zverev 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Centre Court.
Upon hitting the final forehand winner, Sinner fell to the grass surface in sheer disbelief at what he had achieved.
How many Wimbledon titles will Jannik Sinner retire with?
He's a two-time champion! Roger Federer holds the men's singles record with eight…
Defending a Wimbledon title is far from simple. In fact, only nine other men have accomplished the feat in the Open Era.
After achieving such a lofty feat in south-west London, Sinner should now look to shift his attention towards another ambitious ATP goal.
Jannik Sinner should aim to win all nine Masters 1000 events
After dominating the Tour for the best part of three months, Jannik Sinner now has the opportunity to do what no other player has before: win all nine Masters 1000 events in a single calendar year.
The Italian has already become the first player in tennis history to win five consecutive Masters events, as he won Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Rome earlier this year.

To complete the set, Sinner will need to win Masters events in Montreal, Beijing, Shanghai, and Paris.
Sinner is certainly capable of achieving this historic feat – and his chances of doing so have increased amid Carlos Alcaraz’s uncertain physical status.
Of course, Sinner may choose to skip the Canadian Open in order to appropriately prepare his physical state for the final Grand Slam of the year in New York.
In truth, this would be a mistake.
Rarely does a player have such a unique opportunity on the ATP Tour: a chance to make unprecedented history.
Sinner should look to take full advantage of this opening and aim to win the four remaining Masters events of this year.
Jannik Sinner’s record at Masters event this year
- Indian Wells: defeated Daniil Medvedev 7-6, 7-6 in the final
- Miami: defeated Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 in the final
- Monte Carlo: defeated Carlos Alcaraz 7-6, 6-3 in the final
- Madrid: defeated Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-2 in the final
- Rome: defeated Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-4 in the final
What did Jannik Sinner say about winning all nine Masters events?
“We have to go tournament by tournament,” Sinner said after the Italian Open when asked about the prospect of winning all nine Masters titles.
If you were in charge of tennis, what is the first rule you would change?
“The most important thing is to be in good physical condition because otherwise, you won’t get anywhere.
“Thinking about winning all nine Masters 1000 is unrealistic. It’s impossible to maintain this level throughout the season.”
Sinner will seek to make it six in a row when he competes at the Canadian Open next month.
The Italian, who will be seeded first for the event, won his first Masters title at the 2023 Canadian Open.
Sinner defeated Alex de Minaur 6-4, 6-1 to claim the title.
