Jannik Sinner is gearing up for his first match in over two weeks, as he is due to face Tomas Machac at the Qatar Open.

This represents a really tough first-round draw for the former world number one, but one that will provide him with ample opportunity to get straight back into action against a top opponent.

He will be desperate for a reaction after the disappointment of his semi-final exit at the Australian Open, where he was the defending champion.

And, asked about what he’s been working on since, Jannik Sinner was more than happy to share.

Jannik Sinner reveals his training plan ahead of the Qatar Open

Speaking to the official ATP media, just after Carlos Alcaraz had refused to answer the same question, Sinner was comfortable disclosing his training plan ahead of the Qatar Open.

Seeking a reaction, given his most recent match saw Sinner defeated by Novak Djokovic in Melbourne, the Italian claimed: “We work on honestly, at the moment, the usual stuff and trying to get a very solid serve at the moment, which is where we work a lot on.

Who do you think will retire with more Grand Slam titles?

“Also, a lot in the gym. You know, the gym sessions are very important. I try to take an extra step forward in that scenario, and that’s it, you know. Honestly, the season has started; a lot of work has been done in our pre-season.

“Of course, we try to keep working, but also to maintain the level of fitness too. So I think everything is going quite well, of course, you know, you need to play some matches, trying to have the best feedback when you go into it.”

There are fears over Sinner’s chances of competing at the Qatar Open though, with temperatures dangerously close to the ones that troubled him at the Australian Open.

In an effort to work on the serve and his improved physicality, Sinner has selected a supreme practice partner.

After all, the 24-year-old has been pictured playing with Arthur Fils ahead of his return to action in Qatar.

What would have happened if Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner played at the same time as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal?

The Frenchman was drawn against Kamil Majchrzak in the first round.

A former world number 14, he has been managing his time on court as he seeks a safe and steady return from injury.

Fils was plagued by a back injury all throughout 2025, but is seen by many as a man with the talents needed to challenge Carlos Alcaraz and Sinner in the near future.
