Jannik Sinner’s upcoming appearance at the Monte-Carlo Masters could be monumental for the Italian’s career.
The star’s back-to-back victories at Indian Wells and the Miami Open have put him back in the running for the world number one spot.
Sinner could overtake Alcaraz in Monte-Carlo if he wins the clay court tournament for the first time in his career.
As the pressure builds on the ATP 1000 singles draw, Sinner is also set to compete in doubles for just the second time this year.

Sinner is set to play doubles with Zizou Bergs at the Monte-Carlo Masters as the bumper entry list was revealed.
The pair will be joined by other big names, such as Alex de Minaur and Cameron Norrie, Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev, Luciano Darderi and Flavio Cobolli, and Jiří Lehečka and Jakub Menšík.
Speaking to Ubitennis, Zizou Bergs’ father explained how the upcoming partnership materialised at Indian Wells.

Koen Bergs said: “Zizou and Sinner trained together at Indian Wells and Jannik asked them to play together in doubles in Monte-Carlo.
“Zizou would never dare to ask him, so he was rather surprised. I think Jannik likes Zizou’s attitude and personality.”
However, Sinner’s exploits in Indian Wells and the Miami Open could derail their upcoming clay court partnership.
“We know very well that Jannik will decide whether to actually play double or not. He just won the Sunshine Double, so it’s possible that he wants to rest a bit,” he said.
“On the other hand, he could earn a lot of points since he didn’t participate last year. Let’s wait and see, there is still time to realise what he will decide.”
Sinner also played doubles with Reilly Opelka earlier this year at Indian Wells, with the pair losing in the first round to Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.
Jannik Sinner’s only ATP doubles title to date
Sinner has not played too many doubles draws during his dominance in singles on the ATP Tour, but he has claimed a sole title.
The Italian won the Atlanta Open back in 2021, during the infancy of his professional career on the ATP Tour.

Sinner paired with Opelka at the American event and the duo won four matches and dropped just one set to lift the title.
Opelka and Sinner defeated the high-profile duo of Jordan Thompson and Steve Johnson in the final to win the event.
