Jannik Sinner will play Alexander Zverev in the Madrid Open final on Sunday.
After the match, he will head to Rome for the Italian Open.

During his latest press conference in Madrid, Sinner was asked if he was concerned about his fitness.

“Well, Rome is then different again, you know. For me, I’m trying to recover very much in the night sleep,” said Sinner.
“This night has been a very good sleep for me, a lot of hours, and felt quite fresh this morning.
“But, yeah, look, I’ve played a lot in the last one and a half months, going very, very deep in tournaments.

“It’s a good sign, of course, and at the same time, you tend to get a little bit more tired.
“I think, and I believe, when you play a big match, semi-finals, quarter-finals, finals, you know, there is also adrenaline a little bit what pushes me.
“And then in between here and Rome, I try to recover again as much, and then we see.”
Many fans expected Sinner to skip the Madrid Open, having already won the first three Masters 1000 events of the season.
Sinner chose to compete, and the decision has paid off, as he now prepares for the final.
But playing so many matches right before a Grand Slam he is desperate to win is a risk.
Therefore, he could choose to skip Rome to ensure he is fully fit for Roland Garros.
Sinner is on the verge of history and looks capable of winning the first five Masters 1000 events of the year, but a Grand Slam is arguably more valuable than any number of Masters 1000 titles.
He can win Rome any year, but with Carlos Alcaraz out of the picture, surely this is the time to prioritise winning the French Open and completing the Career Grand Slam.

Sinner won’t want to worry about Rome or Roland Garros just yet, though, as he still has a job to do in Madrid.

Recently, Zverev hasn’t enjoyed much success against Sinner.
The Italian has won their last eight matches, dominating his German rival.

It is, however, important to note that Sinner and Zverev have yet to meet in Madrid.
Zverev is a two-time Madrid Open champion, and his game is well-suited to the high-altitude conditions in the Spanish capital.
Sinner, on the other hand, hadn’t been past the quarter-finals in Madrid before this year, often struggling at the event.
If Zverev is going to end his losing run against Sinner, this might be his best chance.
Only time will tell who will emerge victorious in the Madrid Open final, but you certainly won’t want to miss any of the action.
