Jannik Sinner returned to Rome with a win yesterday, defeating Sebastian Ofner with expected ease.

It marked the first of what many are expecting to be another handful of wins for the Italian at the Masters 1000 level, where he is bidding to become the first man ever to win six of these events in a row.

However, what is perhaps most frightening about the dominant 24-year-old, who just seemingly cannot lose at the moment, is that he is only going to get better.

Jannik Sinner has now outlined the area of his game that he’s still so keen to improve.

Jannik Sinner claims he’s still trying to improve his serve

Speaking during the Italian portion of his press conference, the world number one began with a frightening warning for the rest of the ATP Tour, considering how close many would argue he is to perfection.

He stated: “Perfection doesn’t exist for me.”

Sinner continued: “Obviously, we’re honestly trying to improve on all the shots, not just on small things. Small details. But at a high level, they make a big difference. The serve. We’re trying to establish it a little bit. On clay, it’s a little more difficult because you serve differently, more worked on, but yeah. It’s definitely the shot where I’m trying to focus more.

“Not even in training and everything, but yeah, at the end of the day, tennis is like a puzzle: you need all the pieces attached to make something beautiful. We are trying to improve small things everywhere, details that at this level make a big difference.”

Novak Djokovic has already said if he thinks Sinner can win the Italian Open, and that came before his shock early exit from the event.

Jannik Sinner equals Roger Federer’s all-time record

In beating Ofner, Sinner has now drawn level with one of Roger Federer’s all-time records.

And, it would be unwise to bet against him soon breaking Djokovic’s too, which stands as the best win streak in Masters 1000 history.

He once won 31 consecutive matches at this level, and now Sinner is within two wins of matching that.

The four-time major champion currently sits on 29 straight wins, which is the same number Federer once managed.
