Jannik Sinner has just won a fifth straight Masters 1000 title, having blown Alexander Zverev away in the final.

Today marked his ninth consecutive win over the German too, reinforcing a long-held dominance that stretches back into 2023 now.

Chatting afterwards, the Italian naturally cut an upbeat figure, yet remained magnanimous when recognising the achievements of the legends that came before him.

Speaking with the Sky Sports panel, they first wanted to know what Jannik Sinner was most proud of, having just captured his fifth straight Masters 1000 trophy.

He claimed: “It’s tough to say. I think you win matches before matches, and I am truly someone who is very disciplined with days off, and I try to put the right [stuff] into my body in the gym. I am very careful with my body, so that is something that helps me.

“At the same time, you also need to show it on court, and it was a great day. I was serving very well, and when I feel I am serving well in fast conditions like this, it helps.

“Going a break up right away against Sascha, it’s good! And also in the second set, it gives you time to breathe.

“He seemed a bit tired today; he didn’t play his best tennis, but you have to take advantage of that.”

Then, touching on his incredible streak at the Masters 1000 level, Sinner added: “For me, first of all, I cannot compare myself with [the greats]. The stats are nice and beautiful to have, but Rafa, Novak and Roger did what I am trying to do for 15+ years.

“I am just at the start and I don’t play for records like this. I play for myself and my family and my team. It’s nice to share moments with my team because they know what is behind it.

“But usually I have been someone who, at the end stage of the tournament, I like to raise my level, and most of the time I’m able to do so. Because I like being on bigger stages, but it’s not easy to do. I am trying!”

Whilst Sinner was justifiably jubilant, Zverev actually apologised after the Madrid Open final.

When could Jannik Sinner realistically lose next?

It truly feels like the gap between Sinner and the rest of the chasing ATP Tour, particularly with Carlos Alcaraz out injured, has never been bigger.

After all, today he faced the world number three and second seed Alexander Zverev in the final, and demolished him within the hour, 6-1, 6-2.

Given that we are now heading into events in Rome and Paris, where Sinner reached the finals of last year, it really feels like nobody will stop him in the coming weeks either. Only Alcaraz managed it in 2025.

Then, heading into the grass, the Spaniard will be only just returning from his wrist ailment, and therefore could struggle to shake off rustiness. This could see Sinner keep winning at a relentless pace, with his next loss seemingly impossible to predict.
