Jannik Sinner has recorded yet another outstanding campaign on the ATP Tour.

The Italian, who finished the year as the world number two behind Carlos Alcaraz, has won two Grand Slam titles and cemented his place as the best indoor hard-court player on the planet.

Most recently, Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz to win his second consecutive ATP Finals title.

Speaking of Alcaraz, the Spaniard won the remaining two Grand Slam titles and finished the year as the world number one for the second time in his career.

The pair have dominated on the ATP Tour since the start of 2024 – they have won the past eight Grand Slam titles combined.

Jannik Sinner has been in the ATP top two for 87 consecutive weeks

Jannik Sinner is unlikely to drop out of the ATP top two anytime soon.

The Italian currently has over 6000 more points than world number three Alexander Zverev. Sinner has 11,500 ATP points, while Zverev has 5,160.

Sinner first entered the ATP top two on April 1, 2024, and has since spent 87 consecutive weeks ranked first or second.

The 23-year-old has matched Lleyton Hewitt’s total of 87 weeks.

Hewitt, another former world number one, achieved the feat between November 5, 2001 and June 30, 2003.

The Australian, a winner of two Grand Slam singles titles, saw his streak end on July 7, 2003, when he fell to world number five.

Sinner and Hewitt’s totals are the 11th most of all time, 259 weeks behind the record holder: Roger Federer.

Federer, a winner of 20 Grand Slam singles titles, stayed at the top for 346 consecutive weeks.

Where is Carlos Alcaraz ranked?

Carlos Alcaraz is ranked 14th on the list, having spent 81 consecutive weeks in the ATP top two.

The Spaniard, who has won the French Open and US Open this season, achieved this streak between September 2022 and April 2024.

Alcaraz has been present in the top two since May 19 this year.

As the Spaniard is over 7,000 points ahead of world number three Alexander Zverev, it appears unlikely that Alcaraz will fall out of the top two anytime soon.
