The Serbian star then lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the final, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5.

In an interview with French outlet L’Equipe, Riccardo Piatti has weighed in on Novak Djokovic’s chances of winning a Grand Slam title in 2026, following his loss in the Australian Open final.
Piatti, an Italian tennis coach who has worked with Djokovic and Jannik Sinner, believes the Serbian superstar may have an opportunity at Wimbledon.
“If he [Djokovic] continues [to play], it is because he believes that he can always evolve more,” Piatti said.
“Roland Garros will necessarily be more complicated for him, but we must not forget it if an opportunity presents itself at Wimbledon.
“What I know is that at the end of this Australian Open, Novak is back, he is the most obsessed with his tennis.
“I just hope he stays healthy and can prepare as well as possible. Then he might have another chance. Jannik and Carlos would do well to be careful.”
Djokovic has won seven Wimbledon Men’s Singles titles: one behind Roger Federer’s record of eight.
He last won the title in 2022, defeating Nick Kyrgios in the final. A year later, he reached the final again, only to be beaten by Carlos Alcaraz in five sets.

In the final, Djokovic faced Rafael Nadal: the top seed and defending champion. Djokovic snatched the title away from Nadal, defeating the Spanish star 6-4, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.
The triumph marked Djokovic’s first title at SW19 and a third Grand Slam title in total; following victories at the Australian Open in 2008 and 2011.
