Jakub Mensik’s season looked to hit top flight when he defeated Jannik Sinner at the Qatar Open.

Mensik’s win against Sinner was one of his biggest to date, but he stumbled on the ATP Tour at the Sunshine Double.

The Czech star won just two matches at both tournaments as he exited at the round of 32 stage in Indian Wells and Miami.

The star’s withdrawal from the Monte-Carlo Masters has now been followed up with another key withdrawal.

Jakub Mensik confirms injury after another ATP withdrawal

On X, the Czech star revealed: “Sadly, I had to withdraw from Monte Carlo earlier this week because of an infection in my right foot.

“We’ve done everything possible to try and get me ready to compete, but there just hasn’t been enough time. Not the news I wanted to share, but I’ve also decided to withdraw from Munich.

“Together with my team, we agreed that the smartest decision is to take a bit more time to recover and make sure I’m 100% for what’s coming next. Thanks for all the messages and support.”

Mensik lost in the first round of the Munich event last year, so he will not be hit too hard in the ATP Tour rankings.

When could Jakub Mensik be back in action?

The fact that Mensik only confirmed his Munich Open withdrawal should give fans hope that he will be back in action soon.

The 20-year-old could be back as early as the Madrid Open, the next Masters event on the clay court swing.

Who was the biggest shock exit in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters?

Lorenzo Musetti, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, and Flavio Cobolli all lost!

Mensik had a tournament to remember in Madrid last season as he reached the quarter-finals of the competition.

He picked up victories against Alexander Bublik, Ben Shelton, and Ethan Quinn before losing to Francisco Cerundolo.

Mensik will thus be defending 200 ranking points at the Madrid Open, which he will be desperate to hold on to.

The Czech player currently sits at world number 25 in the rankings after missing out on the Monte-Carlo Masters.
