The injury that kept Jacob Fearnley out of the Davis Cup has also forced him out of another tournament.
The Brit followed Jack Draper in withdrawing from the Davis Cup for Great Britain’s tie against Poland, which saw Cameron Norrie and Arthur Fery win singles matches to ensure the result.
Fearnley has enjoyed a breakout year on the ATP Tour in 2025, cracking the top 50 for the first time thanks to third round appearances at the Australian Open and Roland Garros.
The star has confirmed his withdrawal from a major upcoming competition following Fearnley’s Davis Cup absence.

Jacob Fearnley is set to miss the 2025 Shanghai Masters
Fearnley’s stretch without a tournament since his second-round exit to Alexander Zverev at the US Open is set to continue.
The Brit will no longer appear at the Shanghai Masters, which was set to begin on October 1 and run until October 12.
Fearnley will be replaced by World No. 75 Adam Walton, who has been successful on the Challenger circuit since 2022.
The British star will be looking to build on his impressive year when the ATP Tour returns to Europe following the Shanghai Masters.
Fearnley has defeated the likes of Flavio Cobolli, Roberto Bautista Agut, and Tomas Machach in his breakout year.
Who else has withdrawn from the Shanghai Masters?
Fearnley is not alone in exiting the Shanghai Masters, as a slew of players have confirmed they will not be playing the tournament.
Joao Fonseca, Gael Monfils, Grigor Dimitrov, Tommy Paul, and Arthur Fils have all confirmed their withdrawal from the tournament, for a myriad of reasons.
Monfils, Dimitrov, and Paul have left the competition due to existing injury issues from the hard court swing, while Fonseca has confirmed entry into multiple European 250 events instead.
Last year’s Shanghai Masters was won by Jannik Sinner, who defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the final.
