Jack Draper has been recognised for his stunning 2025 season by the ATP, which has nominated him for a prestigious award.
It marks a deserved opportunity to celebrate what has been a stellar 11 months for the Brit, who claimed his maiden Masters 1000 title, reached the final of another, and achieved a career-high ranking of fifth.
Had he not got injured midway through the year, the sky really was the limit with this young talent.
He will hope to maintain that progression in 2026, but for now continues to rest as the tennis off-season officially has begun.
Alas, Jack Draper will likely be intrigued to see whether he can snag this award among a whole host of other top players.
Jack Draper nominated for the ATP Breakthrough Player of the Year Award
The accolade in question is the Breakthrough Player of the Year, and is described by the ATP as the player who ‘made the biggest breakthrough on the ATP Tour this season, with consideration given to milestone wins, significant jumps in the PIF ATP Rankings and first ATP Tour titles’.
He is joined by Brazilian teenage phenom Joao Fonseca, fellow first-time Masters 1000 winner Jakub Mensik, and arguably one of the greatest fairytale stories in tennis history in Valentin Vacherot.
Draper is good value for his inclusion in this nomination list, and certainly boasts a great chance at claiming the award when the winners are announced.
That will be decided by the 29 players, both current and former, who are a part of the ATP’s number one club; those who have reached the world number one spot.
Jack Draper is closing in on returning to tennis
Having spent so much of 2025 sidelined once again, the 23-year-old will be itching to get back on court and for the new season to begin.
After all, Draper recently offered a fitness update, stating that his progress on that front has been positive.
Who should win the ATP Breakthrough Player of the Year award?
He is due to make his tennis comeback at the UTS Grand Finals, having chosen that event as a relaxed but competitive environment with which to ease back into matchplay.
The hope is that, during his time away from tournaments, Draper has been able to make some key adjustments that will make him even more of a threat in 2026.

The advancements he made across the campaign were clear, but it will be interesting to see how he fares with a newfound expectation after being one of the four breakthrough players of 2025.
