Jack Draper given reason to be pleased despite only playing one match since Wimbledon

Jack Draper has been absent from ATP Tour play for much of 2025 due to a left arm injury suffered around Wimbledon.

Draper, the British number one, started the season superbly, rising to world number four following his title win in Indian Wells and an appearance in the Madrid Open final.

However, after being knocked out in the Wimbledon second round by Marin Cilic, his fortunes nosedived.

After Wimbledon, the 23-year-old revealed he had suffered a left arm injury, which forced him to withdraw from the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open.

He then returned to the Tour at the US Open, only to retire ahead of his second round match due to the same arm issue that had plagued him previously.

The Brit subsequently made himself unavailable for all ATP tournament play for the rest of the year.

And while this was a big disappointment at the time, Draper now has something to smile about.

Jack Draper will end 2025 as an ATP top 10 player

Jack Draper has played just one match since Wimbledon – he defeated Federico Gomez in the US Open first round.

Despite his lack of competitive play, the Brit is set to finish 2025 inside the ATP top 10.

Draper had fallen out of the top 10 recently, but has since rejoined due to Casper Ruud’s impending absence at the ATP Finals.

It must be noted that Draper has fallen out of the top eight, meaning if he were to make the 2026 Australian Open quarter-finals, he would likely face a higher-ranked player.

However, Draper has not tumbled down the rankings and will continue to be a high-ranking seed at most ATP Tour events at the start of 2026.

For Draper, the key period of next year will arrive in the spring, when he defends his points from the Miami Open and Madrid Open.

Jack Draper’s big task in Indian Wells

For Jack Draper, defending his points in Indian Wells must be a priority in 2026. The points he won in California – 1000 – make up over a third of his ATP points total.

At this year’s tournament, Draper began his campaign on a strong note, defeating Joao Fonseca, Jenson Brooksby and Taylor Fritz to reach the quarter-finals.

In the quarter-finals, he defeated Ben Shelton 6-4, 7-5, before stunning Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals.

In the final, Draper defeated Holger Rune 6-2, 6-2 – securing his maiden Masters 1000 triumph.

A few weeks later, Draper almost emulated his Indian Wells feat at the Madrid Open. Unfortunately for fans of the Brit, he was stopped at the final hurdle by Casper Ruud.
