Novak Djokovic Australian Open 2021

“It’s like Rafa at the French Open. It just feels right” Novak Djokovic delivers ominous assessment over Australian Open mentality

Novak Djokovic has won the Australian Open 8 times already and is aiming to join Rafa Nadal in the history book by winning 9 or more titles at the same Slam. Now he’s delivered a positive assessment for his chances

Novak Djokovic has explained that the confidence he gets when walking onto the Rod Laver Arena court in Melbourne is similar to the way that Rafa Nadal feels when he walks onto the Phillipe Chatrier Court at the French Open.

Djokovic was answering questions prior to the start of the Australian Open 2021 when he was asked how it felt to be back in Melbourne again,

“It’s probably something similar to like Rafa has at the French Open. I feel more confident on the court each year that I’ve been coming back. The more you win obviously the more confidence you have and the more pleasant you feel on the court. It just feels right. Of course if you are in the right state of mind you have a better chance to play at your best. When I stepped on the court for the first time this year I relived some of the memories from last year and the other year’s that I’ve won the tournament here.”

Novak Djokovic is the No.1 seed for this year’s Australian Open and is drawn to meet Dominic Thiem in the semi-final then Rafa Nadal in the final if all players continue to win.
