Rafa Nadal French Open 2022

‘Insane’ Rafa Nadal one of three players who WILL win French Open, according to McEnroe

Legendary bad boy turned respected commentator John McEnroe knows which three players are the only ones with a chance of winning the French Open, and Rafa Nadal is on that list

John McEnroe claims that either Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz will win the men’s singles at the 2022 French Open if you believe his most recent comments for Eurosport

Nadal eased into the second round with a routine win over Jordan Thompson for the loss of only 6 games which prompted McEnroe to say,

“Obviously, he steps foot on any court at the French Open – it’s almost always Philippe Chatrier – you expect him to win.

“This is insane what he has done. You start laughing when you say it, it’s so incredible. But when I saw him play [Denis] Shapovalov in Rome and he limped off the court, I’m like, ‘woah, it doesn’t look [likely] he’s going to play the French’.

“He loves it here, obviously. He’s got so much history here – he’s got a statue outside the stadium. He looked good.”

Next up for Nadal is French wildcard Corentin Moutet before a potential quarter final clash with his greatest rival Novak Djokovic followed by a possible semi final with Carlos Alcaraz, his Spanish compatriot who many are predicting will one day take over from Nadal as world no.1 and King of Clay
