There were no real upsets on Tuesday at the BNP Paribas Open at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden as all but one of the top seeds sailed through in the mens and womens events.

The only top seed to lose in either event was 24-seed Marat Safin who was beaten by wild card American John Isner, 6-4, 6-4.

World No.1 Rafael Nadal and defending champion Novak Djokovic sunk their third round opponents Dmitry Tursunov (6-3, 6-3) and Tommy Haas (6-2, 7-6) respectively, which keeps them on course for a semi-final encounter.

Other successful seeds in the mens draw on Tuesday were sixth seed Juan Martin del Potro, Argentine David Nalbandian, wild card John Isner, Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka, world No.6 Andy Roddick and No.12 seed David Ferrer who are all now through to the fourth round.

In the doubles event, the British doubles pairing of Andy Murray and Ross Hutchins routed No.8 seed Brazilian opponents Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa 6-1, 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals, where they will now play Max Mirnyi and Andy Ram.

Seeds were equally triumphant in the womens event with world No.2 and top seed Dinara Safina ousting Yankee Jill Craybas 7-5, 6-4 while Vera Zvonareva made light work of Chinas Li Na (6-4, 6-4).

Women also through to the quarter-finals are Sybille Bammer, Ana Ivanovic, Victoria Azarenka, Caroline Wozniacki, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Agnieszka Radwankska.
