Iga Swiatek’s Korea Open campaign has been swamped by miserable weather, with her quarter-final clash against Barbora Krejcikova cancelled on September 19.

Swiatek is looking to bounce back from her disappointing US Open by making a fast start on the WTA’s Asian leg.

The World No. 2 began the tournament with a comprehensive straight sets victory against Sorana Cîrstea, but it’s been a little more complicated since.

The Pole was set to play Barbora Krejcikova in the quarter-finals on September 19, but the rainy weather meant the match was cancelled.

The delay means Swiatek will be forced to play twice if she wins her clash with Krejcikova, something she’s not done since April 2024.

Iga Swiatek has not won twice in one day since the Billie Jean King Cup in 2024

Swiatek has experience playing two matches in one day at the Billie Jean King Cup, but the Polish star has had mixed results.

The World No. 2 played two singles matches in a clash with Switzerland in April 2024, which saw her win both of her bouts.

Swiatek defeated Simona Waltert and Céline Naef in straight sets as Poland raced to a 4-0 win to reach the finals in Malaga, Spain.

Poland made it to the semi-finals, but came up short against Spain as Swiatek won her singles match but lost her doubles.

Swiatek defeated Jasmine Paolini in three sets, before losing to Paolini and Sara Errani in doubles alongside Katarzyna Kawa.

The star will need to endure more than one match yet again at the Korea Open if she wants to lift the trophy.

How did Iga Swiatek deal with two matches in one day

Swiatek has already revealed how she feels about playing two matches in one day, after speaking about rain delays Bad Homburg in 2025.

The star suffered another rain delay in her semi-final against Paolini at the grass court tournament, which she eventually won in straight sets.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Swiatek revealed how playing Billie Jean King Cup in 2024 helped her deal with the rain delay.

“I had to play three times in a row [at] singles, and I had a 30-minute break and had to play doubles immediately, so I felt kind of the same and I knew I can do it.”

Swiatek lost in the final of Bad Homburg, falling to a straight sets defeat to Jessica Pegula.
