Iga Swiatek and Alex Eala will meet in the third round of Wimbledon.
Two of the biggest names in women’s tennis will do battle on Saturday, with a place in the last 16 of Wimbledon up for grabs.
The defending champion, Swiatek, will walk on court as the favourite, but will be careful not to underestimate the Filipina sensation who has made a significant step forward on grass this year.
Who will reach the fourth round of Wimbledon – Alex Eala or Iga Swiatek?
What a match this could be!
Following her second-round win, Swiatek was asked for her thoughts on Eala’s game.
Iga Swiatek expects Alex Eala’s ‘tricky’ game to be even trickier on grass
During her latest post-match press conference, Swiatek delivered her verdict on Eala’s game.
“Well, I don’t particularly know her game on grass,” said Swiatek.
“Obviously, I can watch a little bit. I know how she plays because we played already.

- 2025 Miami Open QF (Hard) – Alex Eala defeated Iga Swiatek, 6-2, 7-5
- 2025 Madrid Open 2R (Clay) – Iga Swiatek defeated Alex Eala, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2
“She has a tricky game.
“I can assume that on grass it’s even more tricky because of the surface.

“For sure, she’s using her strengths, the change of rhythm and everything.”
Eala had only won a handful of grass-court matches before this year, but has quickly found her footing on the surface.
So much so that grass may even be her best surface right now, something Swiatek will be well aware of.
Swiatek is up for the fight, though, as she looks to take a 2-1 lead in their head-to-head.
“I will prepare and I’ll be ready,” she said.
“But it will be a good challenge for me because, yeah, she doesn’t give that rhythm.
“I will need to be ready for different kinds of shots.”
Eala’s variety has caused problems for several players this year on grass.
The Filipina has recorded 11 match wins since the clay season ended.

Swiatek, on the other hand, hadn’t won a grass-court match before she travelled to Wimbledon, having lost her opener in Bad Homburg to Emma Navarro.
So while history points towards Swiatek emerging victorious, form tells an entirely different story.
There is also one other major factor that could help decide the winner of their third-round tie.
The crowd.
Eala’s fans are some of the loudest and most passionate we’ve ever seen.
If she does receive overwhelming fan support when she plays Swiatek in the third round, might that throw the Pole off her game?
The crowds at Wimbledon are always respectful, but knowing so many are backing her opponent could damage Swiatek’s chances of advancing.
Alex Eala previews Wimbledon third-round against Iga Swiatek
During her post-match press conference, Eala was asked to give her thoughts on her upcoming third-round clash with Swiatek.
“I think it’s going to be tough for me. I’m going to try to make it tough for her, as well,” she said.

“You know, it’s a different surface than we’ve played on before, so I think there should be, definitely, there should be some different aspects to the last time.
“I mean, she’s won a Slam on grass. She’s won a Slam on clay. Has she won a Slam on hard? I don’t know.
