Iga Swiatek hit new highs in 2025 after claiming the first Wimbledon title of her already illustrious career.

Swiatek’s 2025 ended with a WTA Finals defeat, but the star continued to lift trophies throughout the season.

The Pole won three tournaments, at Wimbledon, Korea, and Cincinnati, and reached another final at Bad Homburg.

Swiatek has been openly critical of the amount of tennis on the current WTA Tour schedule and she’s further hinted at her plans to play fewer tournaments in 2026.

Iga Swiatek confirms the number of tournaments she wants to miss

Swiatek played 81 matches across 2025, winning a remarkable 64 of those matches, which can only be beaten by Aryna Sabalenka.

It’s unlikely Swiatek will reach that number of matches again, as she’s confirmed her plans to skip more tournaments.

In an interview with The Guardian, the world number two said: “I would like to try missing maybe two tournaments – maybe the ones I feel I haven’t been playing well at anyway – just spending this time on grinding and getting the technique better.

What do players hope to gain from playing in exhibition matches? Do you think it’s only for financial gain?

“For me, there’s too much irrelevant tennis at times in the calendar.”

“I think it will help me also play a little bit better under stress, because my body will remember the proper movements and what it learned during this practice time. Mentally, it can give me a lot of confidence, knowing I worked hard.

“Then I can come to tournaments a little bit better prepared, because for sure, playing all mandatory tournaments now, most players will tell you they’re not always 100% ready to play every one of these.”

Swiatek will next be back in action at the United Cup where she will represent Poland alongside Hubert Hurkacz.

How Iga Swiatek’s 2025 season compares to 2024

Swiatek has been the world number two for the past two seasons and she has been remarkably consistent across those two years.

The star has won 64 matches in both seasons, but she suffered more defeats in 2025 than the season prior.

Swiatek only played 73 matches in 2024, giving her a win percentage of 88% across a season which saw her win Indian Wells, the Madrid Open, the Italian Open, and Roland Garros.

The Pole’s win percentage was slightly down in 2025, dropping to 79% after suffering eight more losses this season.
