Iga Swiatek battles past Elina Svitolina in Rome


Iga Swiatek is through to the semi-finals at the Italian Open after her straight-sets victory over Elina Svitolina. 

The reigning Roland Garros champion defeated the Ukranian 6-2 7-5 in an hour and 36 minutes and produced her best performance at the tournament thus far.

Iga Swiatek, who may have been expecting a repeat of the last 16 match in Madrid against Barty, will now face 17-year-old Coco Gauff later today in the semi-final.
