Jannik Sinner and Linda Noskova won the men’s and women’s singles titles at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships.
Both players will now turn their attention to the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year.
How many Wimbledon titles will Jannik Sinner retire with?
He's a two-time champion! Roger Federer holds the men's singles record with eight…
They would love nothing more than to add to their major tallies in New York; however, history suggests that’s unlikely…
Novak Djokovic is the only Wimbledon champion to have won the subsequent US Open since 2015
Serbian legend Novak Djokovic was the last player to win Wimbledon and the US Open in the same year, doing so in 2018.
He also accomplished the feat three years earlier, in 2015.
However, since then, players, including Djokovic, have been unable to complete the Wimbledon-US Open double.
Djokovic lost in the fourth round of the US Open after winning Wimbledon in 2019, lost in the final in 2021, and was unable to compete in 2022.
How the last 10 Wimbledon men’s winners performed at the US Open
| Year | Wimbledon champion | US Open performance |
| 2025 | Jannik Sinner | Final – Lost to Carlos Alcaraz |
| 2024 | Carlos Alcaraz | Second round – Lost to Botic van de Zandschulp |
| 2023 | Carlos Alcaraz | Semi-final – Lost to Daniil Medvedev |
| 2022 | Novak Djokovic | Did not play |
| 2021 | Novak Djokovic | Final – Lost to Daniil Medvedev |
| 2019 | Novak Djokovic | Fourth round – Lost to Stan Wawrinka |
| 2018 | Novak Djokovic | Champion |
| 2017 | Roger Federer | Quarter-final – Lost to Juan Martin del Potro |
| 2016 | Andy Murray | Quarter-final – Lost to Kei Nishikori |
| 2015 | Novak Djokovic | Champion |
Then, after Carlos Alcaraz won his first Wimbledon title in 2023, he lost to Daniil Medvedev in the US Open semi-finals and suffered a shock second-round exit a year later.
And, while Sinner came close to doing the double, he lost the US Open final to Alcaraz last year.
Whether he can go a step further in 2026 remains to be seen.

On the women’s side, none of the last 10 Wimbledon singles champions went on to win the US Open later in the year.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was another G.O.A.T. contender, Serena Williams, who came closest.
In 2015 and 2016, Williams reached the semi-finals of the US Open after winning Wimbledon.
How the last 10 Wimbledon women’s winners performed at the US Open

| 2022 | Elena Rybakina | First round – Lost to Clara Burel |
| 2021 | Ashleigh Barty | Third round – Lost to Shelby Rogers |
| 2019 | Simona Halep | Second round – Lost to Taylor Townsend |
| 2018 | Angelique Kerber | Third round – Lost to Dominika Cibulkova |
| 2017 | Garbine Muguruza | Fourth round – Lost to Petra Kvitova |
| 2016 | Serena Williams | Semi-final – Lost to Karolina Pliskova |
| 2015 | Serena Williams | Semi-final – Lost to Roberta Vinci |
Noskova may be concerned when looking at the US Open results of her fellow Wimbledon champions.

Six of the last 10 Wimbledon women’s singles champions failed to reach the quarter-finals of the US Open.
Elena Rybakina lost in the first round, Simona Halep and Barbora Krejcikova lost in the second round, Angelique Kerber and Ashleigh Barty lost in the third round, and Garbine Muguruza lost in the last 16.
If anything, winning Wimbledon has proved to be a bad omen for women heading into the US Open.
So history isn’t on Sinner or Noskova’s side as they prepare for a trip to New York.
How well have Jannik Sinner and Linda Noskova played at the US Open?
Sinner is a former US Open champion and has won 79% of his matches at Flushing Meadows.
Jannik Sinner’s US Open record (23-6)
- 2019 – Lost in 1R to Stan Wawrinka
- 2020 – Lost in 1R to Karen Khachanov
- 2021 – Lost in 4R to Alexander Zverev
- 2022 – Lost in QF to Carlos Alcaraz
- 2023 – Lost in 4R to Alexander Zverev
- 2024 – Champion
- 2025 – Lost in F to Carlos Alcaraz
However, Noskova hasn’t enjoyed nearly as much success at the US Open, winning just 43% of the matches she’s played.
Linda Noskova’s US Open record (3-4)
- 2022 – Lost in 1R to Marie Bouzkova
- 2023 – Lost in 2R to Ons Jabeur
- 2024 – Lost in 1R to Yulia Putintseva
- 2025 – Lost in 3R to Karolina Muchova
When looking at those numbers, you’d have to say Sinner is far more likely to complete the double than Noskova.
This year’s US Open begins on Sunday, August 30.
