Jannik Sinner has already forged a legacy that will go down in tennis legend, and he is only just getting started.
At just 24 years of age, the world number one has won four Grand Slam titles, nine Masters 1000 events, and the ATP Finals twice.
He is an Italian Open and French Open away from winning all of tennis’ most elite events, and with Carlos Alcaraz ruled out through injury, it’s hard to see anyone stopping him from achieving this feat.
This ties into the record that he could break in Rome in the coming weeks, and it would see him achieve something that only Novak Djokovic has ever managed in the history of the sport.

Although it was just yesterday that Sinner beat Alexander Zverev in the Madrid Open final, attention has already turned to Rome.
After all, the ease with which he cut through the draw and won that final was incredible, with most onlookers having expected that outcome from the very first match.

Alas, there’s hope it could be different in Rome, particularly given that Djokovic has confirmed his attendance in what will be his first clay event of the year.
He will be desperate to stop Jannik Sinner from winning a sixth straight Masters 1000 event and completing the set.
After all, Djokovic is the only player in history to have ever won all nine of these tournaments, and it took him until he was 31 to do so. If Sinner manages it this month, he would be seven years younger.

After all, they burst onto the scene just as a power vacuum was emerging, with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer having both retired, whilst Djokovic’s powers had begun to wane.

What they continue to achieve is astounding, but there’s no denying that what Djokovic had to contend with when he emerged onto the scene was far tougher.
To become a genuine threat for Grand Slams, the Serbian had to elevate himself to the level of prime Nadal and Federer, and did so incredibly to eventually surpass their major tallies.

Sinner, meanwhile, has had no opposition aside from Alcaraz, who is now out injured.
