One surprise player has the longest winning streak in Davis Cup history despite never even coming close to winning the tournament.
The Davis Cup has been dominated the likes of Italy, Spain, and the Czech Republic over the years, while other top players have dragged their team to success.
Andy Murray won the Davis Cup for Great Britain, while Roger Federer also did the same for his Switzerland side in 2014.
One man had more consecutive wins than any other top star in the tournament, without ever reaching the finals.

Marcos Baghdatis won 36 Davis Cup ties in a row
Former World No. 8 Marcos Baghdatis was a lynchpin for his Davis Cup team from 2000 to 2019, keeping his side afloat in Zonal Group II.
Baghdatis only ever reached one Grand Slam final, at the Australian Open in 2006, but he was near-unbeatable for Cyprus in Davis Cup ties.
| Player | Davis Cup singles winning streak |
| Marcos Baghdatis (Cyprus) | 36 |
| Bjorn Borg (Sweden) | 33 |
| Rafael Nadal (Spain) | 29 |
| Boris Becker (Germany) | 22 |
| Andy Murray (Great Britain) | 19 |
| Marcelo Rios (Chile) | 19 |
The Cypriot, who began his Davis Cup career at the age of 14, won 36 matches in a row in the illustrious tournament.
That’s more than some of the greatest players of all time, including Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal, Boris Becker, and Andy Murray.
Such was Baghdatis’ dominance in the Davis Cup, he achieved a bigger winning streak (36) than Nadal managed in both doubles and singles (32).
Who has won the Davis Cup the most times?
Despite their drought of 18 years without winning the Davis Cup, the United States have still won the tournament the most times.
The tennis giants won the tournament 32 times between 1900 and 2007, their last thanks to Andy Roddick, James Blake, Bob Bryan, and Mike Bryan.
Australia are second with 28 wins, while France and Great Britain are joint third with 10 wins apiece in the tournament.
The last two times, in 2023 and 2024, have been won by Jannik Sinner’s Italy team, who defeated the Netherlands and Australia respectively.
