Roger Federer and John McEnroe dominated in singles action, but they also turned their attention to doubles on multiple occasions.

McEnroe won 77 doubles titles across his career, including nine Grand Slam victories alongside Peter Fleming, Mark Woodforde, and Michael Stich.

Federer, meanwhile, put less emphasis on doubles than McEnroe but still managed to collect eight titles in his career.

Despite playing tennis in different eras, there is one doubles star who won titles with both Federer and McEnroe.

Jonas Björkman won titles with Roger Federer and John McEnroe

Jonas Björkman’s incredible career saw him win six singles titles, as well as a whopping 54 in doubles action.

The star’s lengthy career spanned three decades, from his debut in 1991 to his retirement in 2013.

Björkman played alongside Federer early on in the Swiss star’s career and they won the Rotterdam Open in 2001.

Federer and Björkman defeated Petr Pála and Pavel Vízner in the final to lift their only trophy as a doubles team.

Five years later, Björkman enlisted the help of another tennis legend in the form of McEnroe at the San Jose Open.

McEnroe was 47 years old, while Björkman was 34, but that didn’t stop them from beating Paul Goldstein and Jim Thomas in the final.

Jonas Björkman had an excellent post-tennis career

Björkman finally called time on his career in 2013, but he did not leave the sport for good and turned to coaching.

He worked with Andy Murray in 2015, in a season which brought the British icon five tournament victories.

The Scot lifted the Davis Cup title with Great Britain, as well as the Canadian Open, the Madrid Open, and Queen’s.

Björkman also worked with Marin Cilic in 2016 and 2017, and he became the head coach of the Swedish padel team.
