Grigor Dimitrov gives a big hint as to whether he is getting a Wimbledon wildcard this year

Grigor Dimitrov will not be able to directly enter Wimbledon this year.

Dimitrov is a former world number three, but following his recent injury struggles, that started after he tore his right pectoral muscle at Wimbledon last year, he has now fallen to world number 168.

This meant that the Bulgarian had to play Grand Slam qualifying for the first time in 16 years at Roland Garros, where Dimitrov lost his only match.

Dimitrov may have to play qualifying again at Wimbledon, unless he is the recipient of a wildcard.

Grigor Dimitrov appears likely to get a Wimbledon wildcard

Dimitrov has achieved some of his best career results on grass, including winning the Queen’s Club Championships in 2014.

The 35-year-old will need a wildcard if he is to return to the tournament he won 12 years ago, but Dimitrov has been granted one for another grass court event.

Dimitrov has been announced to be playing the ATP 250 event in Mallorca, which crucially takes place in the same week as Wimbledon qualifying.

While nothing is confirmed as of yet, this appears to hint that Dimitrov is likely to receive a wildcard straight into the Wimbledon main draw this year.

This will be a relief to Dimitrov, who is currently on a seven-match losing streak after his qualifying defeat at Roland Garros.

What is Grigor Dimitrov’s best result at Wimbledon?

If Dimitrov does receive a Wimbledon wildcard, then he will be making his 16th main draw appearance at the tournament this year.

His best result at SW19 came in 2014, when Dimitrov reached the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.

Dimitrov has been unable to replicate this since then, but he did find himself two sets up on Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon last year before suffering the heartbreaking injury that forced him to retire against the eventual champion.

He will be hoping for a different outcome at Wimbledon this year, with Dimitrov expecting to be announced as a wildcard.

Dimitrov is also likely to play some other grass court tournaments, as he looks to return to form after a difficult 2026 season so far.
