Great Britain comprehensively secured their place in the next round of the Davis Cup after beating Norway 4-0 away from home.

Jack Draper’s winning return to tennis was followed by victories for Cameron Norrie, Jacob Fearnley, and Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash.

Great Britain are now just one tie away from making the Davis Cup Finals since 2023, when they were beaten by Serbia in the quarter-finals.

The nation have now found out their fate in the next round and it has drastically improved their chances of reaching the Davis Cup Finals.

Great Britain earn home tie with Ecuador in the next round of the Davis Cup

Great Britain awaited the winner of Australia and Ecuador in the next round of the Davis Cup, but they’ve received a huge slice of luck.

Ecuador’s stunning upset of Australia has ensured that Great Britain will now play their next tie on home soil.

As well as missing an Australian team which could feature the likes of Alex de Minaur, Alexei Popyrin, and Thanasi Kokkinakis, they will also play in front of their own set of fans for the first time since 2024.

Where will Jack Draper be ranked by the end of 2026?

Ecuador, despite their excellent win against Australia, should be an exceptionally winnable tie for Great Britain.

If the nation can keep Draper fit, with Norrie and Fearnley providing excellent competition, they should have more than enough to secure their place in the Davis Cup Finals.

Whisper it, but Great Britain could be a real dark horse for the entire event, despite not winning the tournament since 2015.

The Davis Cup second round draw

The second round ties for the Davis Cup have now been completed and there are several big name nations still in the fold.

After receiving a bye into the second round, thanks to their final appearance in 2025, Spain will compete against Chile.

With the event following on swiftly from the US Open final, it is unclear whether Carlos Alcaraz will be back in the fold for Spain.

Other big teams for Great Britain to worry about will likely be Czechia, made up of Jiri Lehecka and Jakub Mensik, as well as a Canadian team that could feature Felix Auger-Aliassime.

However, it is currently unclear who will be competing for each nation yet as there is plenty of tennis to play before September.
