The sixth seed from Belarus eased to a 6-3 6-2 victory over local favourite Jan Zi.

Eighth-seeded Ukrainian Mariya Koryttseva also dominated her first-round match against Akgul Amanmuradova, beating the Uzbekistan player 6-4 6-4.

Italy’s Karin Knapp was a 7-6 (8/6) 1-6 6-1 winner over Chinese wild card Zhang Shuai, while Ioana Raluca Olaru, Lu Jingjing and Alla Kudryavtseva all won their openers on Monday.
