Playing in the Europe/Africa Zone group phase in Tallinn, Estonia, Britain followed up victories over Hungary and Holland with a demolition of Luxembourg on Friday morning.

Mel South, playing her first singles match of the week, took little over half an hour to thump Fabienne Thill 6-0 6-2 in the opener.

British number one Anne Keothavong followed up with an equally emphatic 6-1 6-2 victory over Mandy Minella to ensure the team topped Group A.

South, who has recently broken into the world’s top 100, was due back on court with Sarah Borwell for the doubles against Thill and Minella but they were given a walkover.

Britain, who are yet to drop a set, will face another group winner on Saturday, with the victors progressing to the World Group II play-offs in April.
