Francisco Cerundolo has now won two of his five career titles on grass after his latest victory.
Cerundolo beat Tommy Paul to win the Queen’s Club Championships, which is the biggest title of his career.
ATP 500 tournaments are the biggest calibre of event on grass other than Wimbledon, with it being the only surface without a Masters 1000 tournament.
Earlier in the week, Queen’s runner-up Paul had called for a grass Masters 1000 tournament and now Cerundolo has given his verdict.

Francisco Cerundolo says it ‘would be fun’ to have a grass Masters 1000 event
Cerundolo was asked about the possibility of there being a Masters 1000 tournament on grass in his post-match press conference.
The Argentinian claimed that it would be ‘fun’ to have one, but Cerundolo admitted that it could be logistically difficult to fit it into the short grass court season before Wimbledon.
“Well, yeah. I don’t know, to be honest,” said Cerundolo. “I mean, I’m not the one who runs the calendar, but, I mean, I know the schedule is super tight.
“There is not a lot of place for new tournaments or to make some improvement. For sure it would be fun to have a Masters 1000 on grass, but I don’t know when, you know, if next week or the week before or this week, turn it into a 1000, but, I mean, yeah, it’s tough, because it was always like this, and suddenly to change something historical is not easy.
“But, yeah, to be honest, I have no idea what are they going to do, you know.”

Francisco Cerundolo reveals what his relationship with his new coach Nicolas Massu is like
Cerundolo lost in the third round of Roland Garros this year, and after hired two-time Olympic champion Nicolas Massu, who has previously coached Dominic Thiem and most recently Hubert Hurkacz.
This partnership has got off to a perfect start, and after winning the Queen’s title, Cerundolo explained how his collaboration with Massu came about and what their relationship is like.
“Well, when I finish with my other coach — I had two coaches before — and I was with Pablo Cuevas, he’s still in the team, I don’t know, French Open, whatever, and we were thinking who to join, and he brought to the table Nico Massu,” said Cerundolo.
“I didn’t even think about him, you know, and he brought it up. I said, Okay, yes, let’s try. Let’s give him a call, a video call, just talk to him. I didn’t know him, just hi and bye-bye in the tournament.
“Yeah, I think we had a good feeling, good connection. We talk about tennis a little bit, and we have a similarities there.
“So we say, Okay, let’s give it a try. When I came back from French Open, if you can, you just come to Argentina to practice on this, and we try here on the grass season and that’s how we started.”
Who is now the best active ATP player without a Grand Slam title after Alexander Zverev’s French Open victory?
Cerundolo and Massu are scheduled to return straight to action at the Eastbourne Open, where the former won his other grass court title in 2023.
As the third seed, Cerundolo receives a bye to the second round, where he will play either Jacob Fearnley or Thiago Agustin Tirante.
