Emma Raducanu has rehired Andrew Richardson, the man who guided her to the 2021 US Open title.
Richardson had been working as the head coach at the Ferrer Tennis Academy in Spain.
Do you think Emma Raducanu has made a good decision with this hire?
Could you see her winning another Grand Slam title alongside Andrew Richardson?
With Richardson leaving the role to join Raducanu’s team, the Ferrer Tennis Academy posted the following message on Instagram.
Ferrer Tennis Academy confirms Andrew Richardson will continue in new role after Emma Raducanu announcement
“Ferrer Tennis Academy La Nucia and Andrew Richardson would like to announce that, in the coming days, Andrew [Richardson] will be taking on a new role as Sports Advisor within the academy,” they wrote.
“After four years as Head Coach, this change will allow him to find a better balance between his professional responsibilities and his personal and family life.
“We would like to make clear that this change does not affect Andrew’s relationship with the academy in any way.

“He will continue to be an active part of the project, working alongside the ATF team and contributing the experience and knowledge that have been so important to the academy’s growth over the last few years.
“At ATF, we would like to thank Andrew for his dedication, professionalism, and hard work since day one.
“His role has been fundamental in the development of the project and in many of the goals the academy has achieved during this time.
“We are very happy to continue having Andrew as part of this new chapter and are convinced he will continue to play an important role within ATF in the years ahead.”
Richardson will remain involved with the Ferrer Tennis Academy, but now has more time to commit to the Raducanu project.
When will Emma Raducanu and Andrew Richardson play their first tournament together?
Raducanu is scheduled to play her first event since Indian Wells next week in Strasbourg.

Having spent so long on the side-lines, results can take a back seat, at least for now.
The focus should be on Raducanu returning to full fitness ahead of the grass-court season.

That’s not to say she can’t win matches in Strasbourg, though, the final event before the French Open.
While clay is arguably Raducanu’s weakest surface, she’s still scored 14 career wins on the red dirt.
There is also an argument to suggest that Richardson could improve Raducanu’s clay-court game.
Working in Spain at the Ferrer Tennis Academy, the Briton has been coaching players on clay for several years.
Learning the ins and outs of the surface, Richardson could teach Raducanu a thing or two.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Richardson and Raducanu, but it will certainly be interesting to see how their relationship develops.
The 2026 Strasbourg Internationaux is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 18
