The world number two, playing in his home-town event, was too strong for the Argentinian, winning 6-3 6-4.

Also a finalist in 2000 and 2001, Federer extended his winning streak to 15 matches at this hard court tournament. The reigning US Open champion also won his fourth title of the season.

It was the 57th career title for Federer, who rifled eight aces and broke Nalbandian once in each set.

Federer never allowed Nalbandian a break chance.

The 13-time grand slam champion improved to 10-8 lifetime against Nalbandian, although this was just his first win in three attempts against the South American in a final.

It marked the third time that Nalbandian, who won this event in 2002, finished as runner-up here.
