Emma Raducanu’s preparations for the Australian Open will continue at the Hobart International, where she is the top seed.

Raducanu has opted to play several smaller tournaments already in 2026 as she looks to claim her first title since winning the US Open in 2021.

The British star began her 2026 with an appearance at the United Cup, where she represented Great Britain and lost to Maria Sakkari in her sole match.

Ahead of her second tournament of the year in Hobart, Raducanu has offered an update on her general fitness.

Emma Raducanu says she’s been practising ‘pretty well’ in Hobart

Raducanu is in a positive mood ahead of the Hobart International, which will act as one of her best chances to win a title.

Speaking at her press conference, the British number one did add one worry she had ahead of the tournament.

Emma Raducanu won her first Grand Slam too soon – Prove me wrong!

Raducanu said: “I need to get used to the conditions and the courts. In particular the wind is quite strong here.

“So, getting used to that, adjusting the game, probably accepting that you’re not going to feel like you’re hitting the ball amazingly because it’s a lot of adapting and improvising.

“But it’s all part of the skill set that you need to play in all types of conditions so I think it will also be a good test and challenge for that.”

Nevertheless, work between Raducanu and new coach Francisco Roig is going well and the star feels prepared ahead of the event.

“So far, I’ve been practising pretty well. I started my preseason pretty late so, for me, it’s all about sharpening up as much as I can.”

Who will Emma Raducanu play at the Hobart International?

The draw has been made for the Hobart International and Raducanu has been given a tricky first round tie, despite her number one seeding.

The British star will play wild card Camila Osorio, who currently sits at world number 82 in the WTA Tour rankings.

Osorio picked up a landmark victory against Naomi Osaka at Indian Wells last year and she won a WTA 250 event.

The Colombian lifted the trophy at the Copa Colsanitas in her home country after defeating Katarzyna Kawa in straight sets.

Raducanu has also been drawn in the same section as Iva Jovic, Janice Tjen, and Jéssica Bouzas Maneiro, so it will not be an easy ride for the British star.
