Emma Raducanu is enjoying a real purple patch of late, having taken solid form on the grass and turned it into a tangible title threat on the hard courts.
After all, kickstarting this North American swing of the tour in Washington, she soared into the semi-finals before losing to Anna Kalinskaya.
Now, maintaining that form, the British number one has won her opening two rounds at the Canadian Open too, and will face Amanda Anisimova for a spot in the Round of 16.
It marks a continuation of her really strong form, and emphasises just how impressive her year to date has been.
Montreal has been no different.
Emma Raducanu continues to thrive in the Canadian Open
Anisimova, fresh from her remarkable run to the Wimbledon final, will provide an almighty task for Emma Raducanu.
But, in the form she is in, the 22-year-old should fear no one.

After all, for what feels like the first time in her entire career, Raducanu is regularly stringing together two, three or even more wins in different events, beating higher-ranked players along the way.
In Wimbledon, she pushed Aryna Sabalenka all the way, before then heading to DC to defeat the seventh seed Marta Kostyuk, Naomi Osaka and Maria Sakkari.
And now, in Montreal, Peyton Stearns is her latest seeded victim.
Anisimova should fear Raducanu, who is looking like it will take a mammoth effort to stop her momentum.
With her win over Gabriela Ruse, Raducanu completed a British tennis record in the process too, further highlighting how impressive she has been of late.
Emma Raducanu’s head-to-head record vs Amanda Anisimova
Raducanu’s match with Anisimova promises to be an intriguing tactical battle between one of the WTA’s biggest ball strikers and one of its most impressive, in-form counter-punchers.
These two have played one another just twice in their respective young careers, with the former having yet to lose to the American.
Ironically, both of their matches have come this year, with the first a straight-sets win at the Australian Open, before Raducanu repeated that feat in Miami just a few months later.
However, there she faced an out-of-sorts, recovering Anisimova.
| Year | Event | Round | Winner |
| 2025 | Miami Open | Fourth Round | Emma Raducanu |
| 2025 | Australian Open | Second Round | Emma Raducanu |
Now, the 23-year-old is a Grand Slam finalist, and has made remarkable strides in her game that should not make this match such a walkover.
It will be really interesting to see which of these two in-form players comes out on top in Montreal, with Raducanu bidding to maintain her unprecedented run which is seeing her soar up the rankings ahead of the US Open.
A seeded spot at that Grand Slam surely beckons for her.
