‘Soonish’ – Emma Raducanu hints at Andy Murray doubles pairing this summer

British number one Emma Raducanu has hinted that a mixed doubles partnership with Andy Murray could potentially take place this summer.

Raducanu, 19, retired from her first grass match of the season at the Nottingham Open on Tuesday due to injury whilst Murray, 35, has already got his grass court season well underway after playing at the Surbiton Open last week.

Speaking of a potential all-British partnership, the Bromley-born teen told reporters at the BBC that it something that they “both want to do.”

“We haven’t actually spoken about it but it’s something we feel we both want to do.  I’m not sure if this is going to be the year but hopefully it will happen.”

Asked if it could be on the cards soon, she replied, “Soonish!”

Raducanu has not played a mixed doubles grass match at tour-level yet, however former world number one Andy Murray has had past success playing mixed doubles.

The Scot reached the last 16 of Wimbledon back in 2019 playing alongside Grand Slam legend Serena Williams.

He also won an Olympic silver medal with Laura Robson at the Olympics in London 2012.

Andy Murray has also reflected on the chance to play alongside Emma Raducanu in a mixed doubles pairing stating that the idea of playing doubles at Wimbledon with Raducanu came up last summer but didn’t materialise.

“Last year we talked about it, but we both ended up doing well in the singles,” Murray said.

“I would love to play with Emma at some stage. I’m sure we will both focus on having good runs in the singles, but yeah – I’d love to do that.”
