Emma Raducanu has finally reached another WTA-level final after her appearance in the 2021 US Open final.

Raducanu is playing in Romania without a coach, but she’s been impressive in beating Greet Minnen, Kaja Juvan, Maja Chwalińska, and Oleksandra Oliynykova at the WTA 250 event.

The British star competed in just the fifth WTA Tour semi-final of her career in Romania against Oliynykova.

It’s been an excellent week for British tennis, and Raducanu’s appearance in the Transylvania Open final has helped set a record for the nation.

British tennis stars have been impressing this week in various guises on the WTA Tour and on Davis Cup duty.

Jack Draper marked his return to tennis with a win as Great Britain toppled Norway to reach the next round of the Davis Cup.

Meanwhile, Sonay Kartal reached the quarter-finals of the Abu Dhabi Open, while Raducanu and Katie Boulter went two stages better.

Raducanu’s final appearance in Romania was matched by Boulter, who has reached the final of the Ostrava Open.

The British star defeated Katie Volynets in straight sets to reach her first final since the Hong Kong Open in 2024.

Raducanu and Boulter’s final marks the first time two British stars have reached two different WTA singles finals in the same week.

Who will Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter play in their finals?

Raducanu and Boulter have been gifted winnable games as they look to lift trophies at indoor tournaments in Europe.

Raducanu will face home favourite Sorana Cirstea in her last-ever Transylvania Open appearance, but the British star currently sits seven places above the Romanian.

What is stopping Katie Boulter from staying in the WTA top 20?

“A fantastic player, was already in the top 20, and she has unfortunately – we have talked about it so many times on our podcast – unfortunately, she just has the yips.”

Boulter, meanwhile, will play Tamara Korpatsch, a player who sits one place below the British star in the rankings, but who has never reached the top 50 of the rankings.

Korpatsch has won just one WTA Tour-level tournament, which coincidentally came at the Transylvania Open in 2023.

Boulter is looking for her third WTA Tour-level tournament victory, having won the Nottingham Open twice and the San Diego Open.
