Emma Raducanu encouraged to ‘think bigger’ as she’s told what she needs to aim for before 2025 finishes

Emma Raducanu has been told that she can achieve far more in 2025 than just cracking the top 32 of the WTA Tour.

The Brit has been flirting with the top 32 for much of the summer, but she’s yet to achieve seeded entry into a Grand Slam.

Raducanu is currently impressing at the China Open, and she’s been urged to think higher than establishing herself inside the WTA Tour top 32.

The British No. 1 has been told that she can easily outstrip those expectations during the final months of the year.

Emma Raducanu urged to ‘finish in the top 20’ before 2025 ends

Ahead of her match against Cristina Bucșa, Colin Fleming addressed what Raducanu should be aiming for before the end of the season.

The broadcaster said the ‘obvious goal’ for Raducanu was to finish inside the top 32 before the Australian Open, but he believes she can achieve far more.

“I think she should be thinking bigger than that,” said Fleming. “She should think, we’re playing in Asia here. Indoor. Everything on hard courts now. Until about March.

“You’ve got two 1000s in Beijing and Wuhan. Go finish the season strongly and go and finish in the top 20.

“I think it’s really important every year that you reset the goals for the last few months and you really try to finish strongly to have momentum to take into your off-season and really focus the work you’re going to do to start the next season with a bang.”

Raducanu has won 26 matches in 2025 already, three more than she achieved in her best-ever year in 2024.

Emma Raducanu has a huge chance to climb up the rankings in Asia

Raducanu has played herself into some decent form through the hard-court swing and there’s every chance the British No. 1 can live up to Fleming’s prediction.

The 22-year-old will appear at the Wuhan Open after the China Open, before heading to Pan Pacific Open at the end of October.

The Brit isn’t defending any ranking points at any of the tournaments she is set to play on the WTA Asian swing.

Just a handful of wins across the three tournaments could see the Brit rise further up the rankings and crack the top 10 for the first time since 2022.
