Elena Rybakina says she’s achieved a personal goal in 2025 that has nothing to do with WTA Finals qualification

Elena Rybakina’s qualification for the WTA Finals is not the main reason she feels fulfilled with her 2025 season.

Rybakina squeezed into the WTA Finals thanks to multiple deep runs during the WTA Tour’s Asian swing, including a tournament win at the Ningbo Open.

The star dislodged Mirra Andreeva to gain a spot in the WTA Finals and she’s currently in Saudi Arabia ahead of the tournament.

The star has opened up about her 2025 season, including the personal goal she’s achieved across the year.

Why Elena Rybakina is ‘fulfilled’ by her 2025 season

Rybakina has won two singles titles in 2025, but there’s another reason why she’s happy with her year to date.

“I would say one goal was fulfilled,” said Rybakina to the WTA Tour’s official YouTube channel ahead of the Riyadh finals.

The star might not have won any Grand Slams, but she’s delighted with the amount of tournaments she’s played in 2025.

“I played the whole season. I didn’t skip much, and health-wise, I think I stayed pretty consistent,” the Ningbo Open winner added.

“I didn’t miss many tournaments and played the whole year, so that goal I definitely achieved,” Rybakina continued.

Rybakina’s qualification for the WTA Finals ensures her third consecutive appearance at the end of year tournament.

Who will Elena Rybakina play at the WTA Finals?

Rybakina has been drawn in the Serena Williams group for the 2025 WTA Finals, where she’s managed to miss Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff.

The World No. 6 is in a group with Iga Swiatek, Amanda Anisimova, and Madison Keys as she looks to win a first-ever WTA Finals.

The star has achieved mixed results against those three women, having lost six out of her 10 matches against Swiatek.

Rybakina has split her head-to-head with Keys, with both women winning three times against each other. The World No. 6 is yet to play Anisimova on the WTA Tour.
