Djokovic sets up Tsonga clash

Having struggled somewhat in his early matches, top seed Djokovic found things much easier on Friday in his quarter-final against Germany’s Mischa Zverev.

The Serb broke Zverev three times in the match to ease to a 6-3 6-3 victory. It was a different story for fourth seed Tsonga, who needed a break in the final game to defeat Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 6-2 6-7 (1/7) 6-4.

Tsonga did not face a single break point but was made to pay for a poor second-set tie-break.

Djokovic and Tsonga met four times last year with the Frenchman winning three of those matches – although not the most important, which came in the final of the Australian Open and gave Djokovic his first grand slam title.

The other last-four clash will be an all-French affair with second seed Gilles Simon meeting Michael Llodra.

It will be the second such encounter for Simon after he brushed aside the challenge of Julien Benneteau 6-2 6-4 on Friday.

Llodra, a three-time title winner on the ATP Tour, came out on top in two tie-breaks in his quarter-final clash against Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny, winning 7-6 (7/4) 7-6 (7/3).
