He will face Fernando Verdasco who beat Fernando Gonzalez 7-5, 6-1 while in the other semi-final Juan Martin Del Potro will face Jo Wilfred Tsonga.

Del Potro defeated Ivan Ljubicic 6-3, 6-3 in their first round match while Tsonga overcame Robin Soderling 7-6 (7/0), 6-1.

That means Haas will face Gonzalez in the play-off semi-finals while Ljubicic will take on Soderling.

World number five Murray will also play a one-off exhibition match at Kooyong on Thursday against American Sam Querrey.
