Match of the day: Grigor Dimitrov v David Goffin

One for the purists, this – and one for those with their eyes on the future, too. Dimitrov’s big breakthrough run to the semi-finals at Wimbledon could be the springboard for greater things, but these are the types of matches he must convert into routine wins if he is to still be in contention next weekend.

Since being knocked out at SW19 in the first round by Andy Murray, Goffin went on an almighty tear, racking up 25 consecutive wins and collecting two Challenger crowns and his maiden ATP title into the bargain.

If nothing else, watching these two hit tennis balls is a joy to behold. Hit record and catch up on Monday morning.

Look out for: Jelena Jankovic

Four years since topping the WTA rankings, Jankovic is haring through another Grand Slam draw. The Serbian burst Johanna Larsson’s bubble with a 6-1 6-0 rout and admitted that she had struggled with, but recently rediscovered, her love of the game.

“I have been a professional for 13, 14 years,” she said. “It’s not easy, hitting balls every day and staying really motivated throughout the whole period. It’s normal, you’re going to have ups and downs, but I found my way again and I love the sport. I love competing. I love battling.”
