Jannik Sinner’s coach has revealed what has changed about the Italian’s game at the Paris Masters because of his ongoing health issues.

Sinner’s physical issues have been questioned despite the World No. 2 safely making his way to the semi-final of the Paris Masters.

The Italian has defeated Zizou Bergs, Francisco Cerundolo, and Ben Shelton in Paris to continue his incredible indoor hard court streak.

Despite his flawless record in Paris, Sinner has still not looked at his best and Darren Cahill has offered an update on how they have tackled the Italian’s fatigue.

Darren Cahill shares Jannik Sinner’s tactical tweak in Paris

Sinner has looked out-of-sorts on multiple occasions in Paris, and his coach Cahill has revealed what the World No. 2 is doing on the court to aid his fatigue.

“I think most players are not feeling their best at this part of the season, it’s been a long year,” said Cahill in an interview with Sky Sports’ Ryan Harrison.

“It’s certainly been a long year for Jannik. He’s tired, but he’s doing well to get through his matches,” he added.

“He’s playing the score a little bit better than he normally would, meaning if he gets down in a game he’s not chasing corners four or five times.

“He’s trying to finish the points a little bit quicker, he’s being a little bit smarter with his changes of pace, so I think all of these can be learning experiences for him, not feeling your best, finding different ways to win a tennis match.”

“So far this tournament, I think he’s done a great job,” added the legendary coach. “He keeps saying ‘one day at a time’ and honestly it’s a cliche, but it’s the easiest way for us to keep things simple when he’s not at his best and he’s a little bit tired.”

Sinner’s appearance at the ATP Finals after the Paris Masters will be his final tournament of the year, after the Italian withdrew from this year’s Davis Cup.

Serena Williams’ former coach shares worry for Jannik Sinner

While Sinner has still not dropped a set at the Paris Masters, his fitness issues have not been lost on some of the greats of the game.

Serena Williams’ former coach Rick Macci spotted Sinner’s issues during his straightforward win against Shelton in Paris.

Taking to social media, the hall of fame coach said: “Sinner seems to be hurting a little. He has unique wires and does stop start with extreme violent movements.

“Need to keep an eye on his hips and back as his twisting/torque and hitting the brakes is uncanny, but his gait can be effected.”

Sinner has suffered with fatigue or illness throughout the year, most famously retiring in the Cincinnati Open final and at the Shanghai Masters.
