Darren Cahill and Jannik Sinner struck up an instant bond, and together they have taken over the ATP Tour.
After all, with Carlos Alcaraz absent due to injury, it really feels like there is nobody left to compete with the world number one.
This is a testament to years of hard work, forging this perfect player who so rarely makes mistakes.
However, such a likeness to perfection and his subsequent domination have led many to worry about what this all means for the men’s game.
When does Jannik Sinner next lose a tennis match? 👀
Some have even taken to criticising Jannik Sinner, stating he plays tennis like a robot.
Cahill, unsurprisingly, has rejected these claims.
Darren Cahill responds to claims that Jannik Sinner plays too much like a robot
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Aussie actually argued that his student is far more emotional and passionate than fans would ever realise.
Cahill claimed: “There is a part of him that loves danger and that is not seen much on the court, because when he is in the game, he has this internal computer that works continuously, and there is a certain security in the way he plays.
“Calculate the chances of winning the point by choosing a certain shot with less risk, and it is the characteristic of a winning player.
“In life, however, it’s not really like that. He loves car racing, speed. He loves adrenaline. But these two souls come together in one player, incredibly professional: training, nutrition, rest, he tries to enter the field every time with the goal of growing and improving. That’s why he’s a champion.”
Then asked if this is what makes Sinner so able to bounce back from defeats, like last year’s dramatic Roland Garros final, Cahill added: “He has a special talent that he has and that we coaches can’t teach. It is an inner drive that leads him to want to learn from every situation.

“Jannik learns not only from defeats, but also a lot from victories, because it is essential to ‘go to school’ in every tennis match. Whether he wins or loses, he looks at everything through the same lens: ‘How can I improve today?’ It’s his strength.”
This came just after Cahill was asked if he planned to coach another player after Sinner.
Darren Cahill shares what people don’t know about Jannik Sinner
Later on in that same interview, Cahill was asked if there was anything about the four-time Grand Slam champion that fans might not know.
Unsurprisingly, there was an easy answer, but there is likely so much else that fans simply do not see from just watching the matches and his press conferences.
Can anyone now stop Jannik Sinner from winning Roland Garros after Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal?
If yes, who?
Cahill claimed: “He’s extremely curious.
“When he’s in a group of people, everyone wants to know something from him, but in the end, he finds a way to turn the situation around and bombard them with questions, whether it’s about sports or life, how to handle pressure, girlfriends or anything else.
“He wants to learn from people who have lived experiences that he will probably live in the future. He wants to be ready early.”
