Dan Evans might be in the twilight of his career, but he shows no signs of hanging up his racket any time soon.

Evans said his career was ‘coming to an end’ in 2025, but he still enjoyed some standout results across the year, before injuring his wrist.

The British star is currently languishing outside the top 200, having not played a tournament since Australian Open qualifying.

Evans’ return to the sport has now been confirmed as he is set for a Challenger event for next month.

Dan Evans signs up for first ATP event for months

Evans lost to Rei Sakamoto in Australia, which is, to date, is his only appearance of the season, but that will now change.

The British star is set to play the legendary Cherbourg Challenger in France, which is set to take place on 9th March.

The French tournament holds a special place on the ATP Tour, with the event holding the record for the oldest Challenger in the world in terms of consecutive editions.

Evans has not played the event since 2016, when he was beaten in straight sets by Serbian star Filip Krajinović.

A British star has never won the Cherbourg Challenger, so Evans has a chance to etch his name in tennis history.

How long ago it was since Dan Evans last won a match

You have to go all the way back to September 2025 for the last time Evans won a competitive tennis match.

Evans appeared at the Guangzhou Challenger in China, where he reached the quarter-finals of the tournament.

What is your bold prediction for the 2026 tennis season?

He picked up wins against Charles Chen and his compatriot Oliver Crawford, before retiring against Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the last eight.

The injury ended Evans’ season early, which was particularly upsetting for the British star as he was finding some form.

Evans reached the second round of Wimbledon and followed it up with a round of 16 place at the Washington Open in the summer.
