Coco Gauff has achieved something no one else has managed by defeating Jasmine Paolini at the Wuhan Open.

The American earned a place in the Wuhan Open final by toppling Paolini, and she’ll play the winner of Jessica Pegula and Aryna Sabalenka.

Gauff has been warned to improve in Wuhan, but she’s managed to achieve yet another final on the WTA Tour.

Gauff has once again etched her name in WTA Tour history with her straight sets victory over the Italian.

Coco Gauff is the youngest player to reach the China Open and Wuhan Open

Gauff has been in inspired form for the WTA Tour’s Asian leg, reaching back-to-back finals in Beijing and Wuhan.

The American has lost just once, in the China Open final against Amanda Anisimova, during her foray into the Asian country.

With her victory against Paolini, the young American has become the youngest player to reach both 1000-finals in China.

Gauff has won the China Open, in 2024, but she is yet to taste victory at the Wuhan Open, although that could change in 2025.

The Wuhan Open has been won in three consecutive years by World No. 1 Sabalenka, so Gauff faces a tough task to dislodge the World No. 1.

Coco Gauff and Jasmine Paolini achieve something incredible at the Wuhan Open

Gauff and Paolini are two of the best returners on the WTA Tour, but it was still a surprise at how many breaks of serve there were in the match.

The two top stars traded 11 breaks of serve between the first and second set, which is nearly unheard of in the game.

Jurgen Melzer and Carlos Taberner shared eight consecutive breaks of serve in a Roland Garros qualifying match back in 2018.

Gauff and Paolini have broken that record, but you can’t imagine the two top 10 players would be particularly happy with it.
