Coco Gauff has been placed in a difficult situation after confirming her place in the Wuhan Open quarter-finals.

Gauff’s incredible record in China continued with a victory against Zhang Shuai in the third round of the Wuhan Open.

The American has dropped just six games in her first two matches as she aims to put a stop to Aryna Sabalenka’s dominance at the tournament.

The star has been handed a nightmare schedule as she looks to continue her fine form at the Chinese tournament.

Coco Gauff forced to play twice in 16 hours at the Wuhan Open

Gauff will play Laura Siegemund in the quarter-final, but she’s been given a quick turnaround against the German star.

The American is set to play at around 3pm Chinese time after playing the later match the day prior in Wuhan.

That means Gauff will have a turnaround of just 16 hours between her two matches, and it’s due to her opponent.

Siegemund will play twice on October 10 as she’s still in the doubles draw alongside Fanny Stollar on court one.

The veteran German will play Iva Jovic and Giuliana Olmos in the latest match on the Wuhan Open’s second court.

Coco Gauff could be lined up for all-star Wuhan Open semi-final

Gauff has been impressive in Wuhan, but she will need to be at her absolute best if she manages to find a way past Siegemund.

The American will play the winner of Jasmine Paolini and Iga Swiatek in the final four, two players she has a negative head-to-head record against.

Swiatek has beaten Gauff 11 times out of their 15 meetings, while Paolini has managed three victories out of five against the American.

Should Gauff get past either Swiatek or Paolini, she’ll likely play Sabalenka in the final, who is yet to be beaten at the tournament.
