In fact, there are 10 American players in the WTA top 50.

On Tuesday, America’s two highest-ranked players, Coco Gauff and Amanda Anisimova, set yet another example for their compatriots to follow.

As per OptaAce, Gauff and Anisimova’s victories on Tuesday mark the first occasion in China Open history where multiple Americans have reached the Women’s Singles quarter-final stage.

Gauff has earned a quarter-final match against German youngster Eva Lys, while Anisimova will face Italy’s Billie Jean King Cup hero, Jasmine Paolini.
