Coco Gauff already says if she is planning to go into coaching when she retires from tennis

Coco Gauff is 22 years old and is already a two-time Grand Slam champion.

The American could still have her best years ahead of her, but that hasn’t stopped her from talking about what comes next.

Where will Coco Gauff be ranked at the end of 2026?

After her latest win at the Miami Open, Gauff commented on the future.

Coco Gauff ‘definitely’ doesn’t want to become a coach

During her fourth-round press conference, Gauff shared her post-tennis plans.

“I don’t really visualise life after tennis right now, but I definitely wouldn’t want to have kids while playing,” she said.

“I am pretty certain on that.

“But you never know, Serena [Williams] and Venus [Williams] and a bunch of people all said similar things, but I don’t see it for myself.

“I have not really thought about life after tennis.

“I definitely don’t want to coach or anything, so you probably won’t see me out there.

“At first I said no commentating, but then it looks kind of fun, so maybe I would consider doing something like that, but I have not thought that far ahead.”

Gauff isn’t planning on becoming a coach when she retires from tennis, but why?

Could it be that she is experiencing first-hand the difficulties of player-coach relationships?

During the Dubai Tennis Championships, Gauff was heard complaining to her coach, Gavin MacMillan.

“I’ve been doing everything you’ve wanted for the last 6 months, and it’s not getting any better,” she said.

The comment seemed to reference her double faults, which continue to trouble her on the WTA Tour.

MacMillan was hired to fix Gauff’s serve, but has, for the most part, failed to do so.

After her early exit at Indian Wells, many questioned whether Gauff and MacMillan would part ways.

Proving the doubters wrong, they reached the quarterfinals of the Miami Open.

But while the results are positive, the serve remains a real problem…

Coco Gauff has made 25 double faults in Miami

Gauff has won three three-set matches en route to the Miami Open quarterfinals.

In all three matches, the world number four served six or more double faults.

The double faults have decreased match by match, though, which could provide some comfort for the 22-year-old.

She’ll be hoping that trend continues when she takes on Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic.

Gauff and Bencic have played six times on the WTA Tour, and the American leads their head-to-head, 4-2.

If Gauff can extend her winning record to 5-2, she’d advance to the semifinals, where she would meet either Victoria Mboko or Karolina Muchova.
