Second seed Cilic needed less than 90 minutes to get past Serbia’s Viktor Troicki in the first semi-final, forcing seven breaks of serve on his way to a 6-2 7-5 success.

Ancic, the seventh seed, did things the hard way in his last-four meeting with Jan Hernych, coming from a set behind to post a 6-7 (4/7) 6-3 7-6 (11/9) victory over the Czech.

In a match which lasted just over three hours, both players wasted several breaks of serve before Ancic eventually edged a tense tie-break in the deciding set.
