Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are forging tennis history before our very eyes, and Chris Eubanks is worried that people might not be taking proper note.
After all, speaking earlier this week, the American was discussing just how impressive this duo has been since they burst onto the scene a few years ago.
Together, they have established a dominance over the ATP Tour which seems unlikely to buckle anytime soon, no matter how much supporters will a third man to emerge and cause trouble.
Eubanks, chatting with the Best of Three podcast, has actually singled Carlos Alcaraz out as a true history-maker who is breaking records at a rate he’s never seen before.
Chris Eubanks left stunned by Carlos Alcaraz’s accomplishments
“I think, at least I hope fans are appreciative of what we’re watching,” Eubanks began, speaking about both Alcaraz and Sinner.
He explained why: “Because, I think whilst it’s easy to say, oh, it’s boring, these two guys every tournament, every big title. It’s like, you remember the Roger dominance and then the Roger-Rafa, and then the Novak, and the Novak-Murray. Like, you remember when, like, someone kind of got in and disrupted.
How worried are you about Carlos Alcaraz’s injury?
Carlos Alcaraz will miss Rome and Roland Garros…
“I remember it kind of, but not that much. I was still very young at that time, and I’m watching what we’re seeing now, and I go: this is really special. Like, this is really, really special.”
In fact, Eubanks’s argument about why they are so special was to compare Alcaraz’s achievement from earlier this year to the one Roger Federer chased for years.
He added: “The level that these guys are playing at, and the age at which they’re doing it, like, I remember Roger chasing down that Roland Garros title to be able to get the career slam, and he was already the goat. He just didn’t have a career slam. Like, Carlos got the career slam at 22. Like, this is crazy stuff.
“And so I just hope fans are appreciative of the greatness that we’re seeing and not just taking for granted that these guys are so great, they’re playing each other and everything.
“Yeah, it’s going to be fun when someone comes in there and breaks it up. Like, it’s gonna happen. Somebody’s gonna get in there at some point. But let’s just enjoy it. Let’s just not complain.

“These guys have traded off wins back and forth, and these guys are making tactical adjustments to prepare for each other, and I think it’s great. I think it’s great no one has run away with, you know, a crazy head-to-head.”
It’s sad that we will not get to see this superb Spaniard continue his fine form at Grand Slam events, with Alcaraz having been ruled out of Roland Garros through injury already.
Comparing Carlos Alcaraz to Roger Federer at the same age
What Alcaraz has already achieved at just 22 years old is unprecedented, with this historic start to his career confirmed after he became the youngest man to ever win the career Grand Slam title earlier this year.
For reference, it took Federer until he was 27 to accomplish this feat.
What would have happened if Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner played at the same time as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal?
But, to compare the Swiss maestro with the current world number two when he was 22 makes for really interesting reading, and helps contextualise just how great Alcaraz really is.
At that age, Federer had won three Grand Slam titles and four Masters 1000 titles.
Alcaraz, meanwhile, already has seven majors and eight Masters 1000 titles.
