The German never really looked in trouble, as he qualified for his fourth Grand Slam championship match.
During TNT Sports’ post-match coverage, Caroline Wozniacki predicted what would happen in the French Open final.
Caroline Wozniacki thinks Alexander Zverev will ‘cruise’ to the French Open title
Speaking before Matteo Arnaldi withdrew from Roland Garros to send Cobolli through to the final, Wozniacki delivered her verdict on Zverev’s semi-final triumph.
“I thought he came out and played really well; he played solid,” she said.
“But he was never really pushed.

“It seemed like he’d already won the match before the first ball was really hit.
“I didn’t feel like [Jakub] Mensik really gave it a push.
“I would have liked to have seen him come out firing from the first set.

“He played well in the third set, but that was a little too late.
“At that point, you have someone in [Alexander] Zverev who has been there so many times before; he’s felt the pressure.
“Unless you’re 1-1 in sets and you really go toe-to-toe, I just think Zverev has too much experience in these moments.”
How impressed have you been by Alexander Zverev at Roland Garros?
He's into another French Open final…
Wozniacki continued, previewing the final.
“I don’t see him losing in the next match either, I think he’s going to cruise through and win his first Slam,” she said.
Zverev is currently 0-3 in Grand Slam finals, having lost to Dominic Thiem at the 2020 US Open, to Carlos Alcaraz at the 2024 French Open, and to Jannik Sinner at the 2025 Australian Open.
The 29-year-old is one of, if not the greatest player to have never won a Grand Slam title, but that could all be about to change.
With Sinner, Alcaraz, and Novak Djokovic out of the picture in Paris, Zverev was the clear favourite to lift the French Open trophy, and he is now one win away from doing just that.
Former French Open finalist Sloane Stephens believes this might be Zverev’s best chance to win a major.

“He’s consistent; he beats the people he should beat,” she said.
“You only have to beat the opponent in front of you, and that’s what he’s done so far.
Alexander Zverev’s route to the French Open final
- 1R [WIN] vs Benjamin Bonzi, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2
- 2R [WIN] vs Tomas Machac, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2
- 3R [WIN] vs Quentin Halys, 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2
- 4R [WIN] vs Jesper De Jong, 7-6, 6-4, 6-1
- QF [WIN] vs Rafael Jodar, 7-6, 6-1, 6-3
- SF [WIN] vs Jakub Mensik, 7-5, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3
“This is the tournament for him to win, this is also the tournament for him to lose.
“He will never – I don’t want to say he will never, but he won’t have another opportunity with Jannik [Sinner], with [Carlos] Alcaraz, with Novak [Djokovic], all of those players who would have been pushing him in the semis or the finals.”
Zverev must now grasp this opportunity and become a Grand Slam champion for the first time.
What Flavio Cobolli must do to prevent Alexander Zverev from ‘cruising’ to the title
If Cobolli is to make a game out of the French Open final, he will need to bring his A-game.
Anything less than that simply won’t be enough.
At his best, Cobolli can cause problems for anyone on tour, as evidenced by his three top-10 wins this season.
He’s even beaten Zverev this year, on clay, at the German’s home tournament!

Cobolli must also remember the pressure his opponent will be under.
Even if the Italian finds himself down a set or two, there is every chance that Zverev buckles under the weight of expectation.
The longer he can keep up the fight, the more likely Cobolli will start to make Zverev doubt himself.
Looking to pull off the upset, Cobolli will take on Zverev in the French Open final on Sunday, June 7.
